Our Maine Coast Bed and Breakfast

2021 at Our Maine Coast Bed and Breakfast Captain Nickels InnWith the new year, we find ourselves reflecting over the last year at our Maine Coast bed and breakfast, Captain Nickels Inn. Looking back and remembering all the fun we had sharing MidCoast Maine with our wonderful guests.

We truly do feel lucky. Not just because we live in this historic seaside sanctuary on the Maine coast but also because we’re able to share it with so many others. People like you, who come to experience the wonders of MidCoast Maine.

Our inn’s location, on the water in Searsport, ME puts the best of the state of Maine within easy reach. Acadia National Park, Boothbay Harbor, downtown Belfast, Camden, shopping, dining, hiking, boating, sight-seeing, and so much more.

Our Maine Coast bed and breakfast is both a romantic hideaway and a historic, 1874 Victorian mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We’ve worked hard to restore it to its original glory with ten guest rooms, a tavern, sculptured lawns and gardens stretching down to our private, Penobscot Bay waterfront.

We love living here and sharing the area with our guests but it’s kudos like those below that are the greatest reward. Our only goal is making sure that you have the best MidCoast Maine getaway you possibly can and are always gratified to learn when we have been successful.

Thanks so much to all who helped make it the wonderful year that it was.

Maine Coast Bed and Breakfast Reviews

“Dawn and Cass were lovely hosts of this beautiful inn. They have lovingly and beautifully updated the inside. The huge lawn, with games and tons of space for playing and relaxing, leads down to the water. Cass supplied delicious cookies and a beautiful and tasty breakfast. Our room was spacious enough and very comfortable for the two of us and the bathroom (quite small but nicely updated) was adequate. The Inn is about an hour away from Acadia so close enough to spend the day hiking. Hopefully next time we’ll be able to stay more than one night!” Betsey F.

“My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay in the Captains suite that had just been renovated. The new bathroom was remarkable making for a very romantic evening. We booked a couples massage that was completely coordinated through the hotel and made the stay that much more enjoyable. The breakfasts were delicious with variety at each course. I cannot recommend this B&B enough. A great location near Camden, Belfast, and Ellsworth you will not run short of things to do.”  Travis K.

“A great inn! We stayed 3 nights, and really enjoyed it. Breakfast was excellent each morning. The owners and other guests were great. The lawn down to the bay is awesome. Now it is an old building, so some of the rooms are smaller than a modern hotel, and you need to expect to carry luggage up a flight of stairs, but that is part of the adventure. I like history, so I highly recommend a trip over to Fort Knox, you can wander through a fort built in the late 1800s, and experience the design of a fort built to protect a port city.”  Michael D,

“My husband and I stayed at the inn for our 3rd anniversary and our stay was nothing short of a dream! Firstly, the location was perfect on the coast with amazing views. Secondly, the inn itself was beautiful and spacious with many common areas to lounge in. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast served every morning and looked forward to the little afternoon treats. Dawn also was able to book a sailing experience for us nearby and planned the details of our stay to the T! She was also so accommodating and welcoming throughout our stay, including a little small treat for our anniversary. We cannot wait to come again and stay at the inn”! Nawal U.

“My wife and I recently completed our four-night stay at the Captain Nickels Inn and, boy, were we sorry it ended. Our room, the Amos Suite, afforded some of the most beautiful mornings watching the sun come up over the bay and evenings watching it set while seated on our private balcony. The little fire pit was quite a nice treat, too. It’s a wonderful suite with a large bathroom (separate full tub and rain shower), kitchenette, and sitting room. Any room in the Inn would suffice for travelers, though, as the property and the innkeepers, Dawn, and Cass, are second-to-none. The pair have done a marvelous job restoring the historic home and grounds, Cass blows everyone away with her wonderful morning meals and Dawn really does “think of everything” for her guests. We unequivocally give Captain Nickels Inn our highest recommendation for anyone who wants to explore the lovely Mid-Coast of Maine.”  Michael N.

Looking Towards Spring

A tapestry of vibrant blooms, where sunlight dances on shimmering shores

After a busy summer season, the inn will be quiet for most of the winter as we continue our renovation projects and grab a few quiet weeks rest for ourselves. Our hearts are turning towards spring, eager to bask in its transformative magic.

Consider a stay in the Willard Room – our newest luxury accommodation! Located on the third floor, it offers added privacy. Updated amenities such as a walk-in jetted shower and sitting room provide luxury comforts.
